✖ Seeking a Puppy for Instant Emotional Support – Dogs bring so much joy to our lives, but puppies are still babies—they need guidance and support before they can offer it in return. Expecting a young pup to be a ready-made therapy or emotional support dog isn’t just unrealistic; it’s unfair. They require months (sometimes years) of care, training, and stability to grow into that role. A puppy needs a leader to feel safe, not the weight of someone else’s emotional needs.

✖ Easily Frustrated by Normal Puppy Behavior—Raising a puppy comes with challenges such as potty training accidents, crying, and nipping. If someone cannot handle the disruption that a puppy will bring to their life or the added time and dedication that a new puppy requires, it’s unfair to the puppy since they do not mean to upset us; they are babies. 

✖ Using Aversive Training Methods – If someone believes in shock collars, dominance-based techniques, or other harsh training methods, they are not aligned with our philosophy. We raise puppies with a relationship-based, trust-building approach that prioritizes emotional well-being.

✖ Impulse Buyers & Instant Gratification  – Puppies are adorable, but they’re also a commitment. Some people jump in without thinking it through, only to realize that raising a puppy takes effort—and when it gets tough, they want to return them like an unwanted purchase. These dogs often come back to us confused, untrained, and in need of rehabilitation, making it much harder to find them a stable home. It’s not fair to the puppy, to us, or to the families who are truly ready for this journey. A dog is a lifelong companion, not a fleeting impulse.

✖ Lacking Patience & Leadership – Puppies are not born fully trained and develop in stages like human children. Those with unrealistic expectations of what a puppy is developmentally capable of—expecting instant obedience, impulse control, or frustration-free behavior—may struggle with the commitment required to raise a well-balanced dog.
